Helen (Elena) and Edna
Sometimes I find poems or pictures that feel related to something of mine or to one another, and I find value in the comparison; perhaps you will also. So here, back to back, are some recent discoveries.

The Journey, Beginning and End (with Olav Hauge)
There Will Come a Time
There will come a time
when it is time to wander off.
Around me, people
laugh and cry and carry on.
Still, I am not of them;
I cannot be with them.
They don't yet know,
with the certainty that I am coming to know,
that there will come a time
when it is time to wander off.
The time for some is sooner,
the time for others later.
We do not know our time.
Then suddenly, before us,
a new and shining sea,
a fresh breeze,
and a little boat,
bidding us to sail.

It's the Dream
It’s the dream we carry in secret
that something miraculous will happen
that it must happen
that time will open
that the heart will open
that doors will open
that the rockface will open
that springs will gush–
that the dream itself will open
that one morning we’ll quietly glide into
some little harbor we didn’t know was there.

Rest: Hafez and Me
Just
Sit There
Don't do a thing.
Just rest.
For your separation from God
Is the hardest work in this world.
Let me bring you trays of food
And something
That you would like to drink.
You can use my soft words
As a cushion
For your
Head.
Hafez
Invitation
You're invited to the feast.
The table's piled high,
the food awaits by day and by night.
What's your pleasure?
If you're tired, let someone else's fingers
feed you grapes.
If you're hungry, be a two-fisted eater.
Its OK! We're all here to serve.
Right now fresh fruit is being peeled;
the dirty dishes swept away.
Look!
Tiny birds chase the crumbs at your feet.
